Find Your Perfect Fit: Explore Our Range of Bed Sizes

No matter what size bed you need, we've got it.

Choose Your Style: Explore Different Types of Bed Frames

We know everyone's different, so we offer different types of bed frames including:

  • Fabric Bed Frames: - These have a mix of wood or metal underneath and lots of fabric options on top. You can pick from lots of colours and fabrics to match your style.
  • Metal bed frames - Tough and strong, these frames are perfect for supporting heavier mattresses. They won't easily get damaged by water, fire, or bugs.
  • Wooden bed frames - These are classic and sturdy. You don't need to do much to take care of them.

Choosing the Right Height: Exploring Bed Frame Profiles for Comfort and Style

When choosing a bed frame style, one of the most serious considerations is its height profile. A bed that is too low or too tight can put strain in your joints as you enter and exit the bed. Therefore, the height of your bed frame and mattress can affect your health and wellbeing in addition to affecting the look you are trying to achieve in the bedroom.

  • Low Beds (18–24"): Ideal for small rooms or rooms with low ceilings, this style of bed can make the room feel more open and feel taller. This type of bed is suited to people of smaller height and without mobility issues.
  • Standard Bed Frames (24"): Suit many people, particularly those prone to back problems. They are also an excellent choice for co-sleepers who need something to suit both.
  • High Bed Frames (25-36"): This height of bed is perfect for rooms with tall ceilings or for taller people with no health issues who are striving to achieve an elegant look within the bedroom.

Elevate Your Sleep Experience: Explore a Wide Range of High-Quality Bed Frames

Nothing affects your daily performance more than sleep, therefore, choosing the right bed frame is crucial, yet it can be a daunting task due to the many types available. That's where we come in. We've gathered high-quality bed frames in all kinds of colours and finishes. From divan base beds to Ottoman beds and ones with slatted bases, we've got them. Up your sleep game and give your bedroom a fresh look with a top-notch bed frame. And don't worry; our experts are here to give you free advice to help you make the best choice. So, sleep better and transform your bedroom with a high-quality bed frame.

Questions & Answers

  • What is an Ottoman bed?

An ottoman base features a gas lift hydraulics system which lifts the base of the bed to reveal maximum storage ability directly under the mattress. This type of bed is ideal for those seeking best storage space with minimal floor space needed.

  • What is an adjustable bed base?

As the name suggests, adjustable bed bases allow you to raise and lower parts of the bed base. They are great for people with mobility issues (healthbeds) or for those who spend a lot of time in bed reading or watching television (lifestyle choice beds). When buying an adjustable bed, great consideration is needed to the type of mattress and motor requirements, depending on what you are using the adjustable bed for.

  • What is a sprung slatted bed base?

This type of bed frame supports the weight of the mattress by using wooden slats that normally run to the halfway point in the bed. In the middle rail of the bed frame and on the side rails, there are plastic pockets to secure the ends of the slats. The wooden slats on this type of frame are slightly curved to allow them to adapt to your sleeping position, supplying a plusher, more cushioned feel as you sleep. Sprung slats can help to extend the life of your mattress by reducing the amount of strain on it. If buying a slatted bed base, it is important to know that mattresses can get damaged by slats if they are too far apart or not far enough apart.

  • What is a solid slatted bed base?

This type of base features a row of slats that lie across the entire width of the bed. This frame is ideal for this who prefer to sleep on a firmer base as the solid slatted base is more rigid and offers less give than a sprung slatted base.

  • Which is better, sprung, or solid slatted bed frames?

It is extremely difficult to answer this question, as comfort is subjective. The best one is the one that is right for you.

  • What is the difference between a bed frame and a bedstead?

Put simply, nothing! Here at Land of Beds, we tend to use the term bed frame, however, in the bed industry, the two terms are often used interchangeably. Both simply describe the same thing: the base, or platform, that your mattress is placed on.

  • What size bedframe do I need?

A bed frame is one of the biggest items of furniture in your bedroom, so it is important to measure the available space you have. Many people make the mistake of using the mattress size measurements when looking at the required space when buying a new bed frame. However, individual bed frame dimensions vary from frame to frame and are almost always larger than the dimensions of the mattress. It is crucial that you look at the bed frame dimensions for exact measurements to ensure it fits well in your room. Ideally, you should leave at least 50 centimetres of free space around the bed to ensure you can walk around easily. You will also need to factor in opening doors, wardrobes and chest of drawers if they are positioned near your bed frame, plus space for bedside drawers if needed. One factor that is often overlooked when buying a new bed frame is the space available to get the new frame into the property. This should be an important consideration when making your purchase. Be sure to check for tight narrow spaces, steep staircases etc that may affect delivery or getting the bed into your property.

  • What is the right bed height for me?

The answer to this question will depend on your height. When sitting at the edge of the bed, your feet should ideally be flat against the floor and your knees in line with your hips. If this is not the case, the bed height might not be the most suitable one for you. If your knees are above your hips, the bed may be too low, while, if your knees are below your hips or your feet cannot touch the floor, the bed may be too high. If you have a sleeping partner who is significantly different in height to yourself, we suggest choosing a height that is in the middle of the ideal height for you both.

  • How often should I replace my bed frame?

There is no fixed rule as to how often you should replace your bed frame, however, it is important to consider the length of time you have spent on it. Ideally, you should look to replace your bed frame at the same time as your mattress (every 6-8 years), as it has been exposed to the same weights etc, however, at Land of Beds we understand that this is not always possible.

  • Can I just replace the bed frame, or do I need to buy a new mattress?

Yes, you can just replace the bed frame, providing the mattress you are putting on top of it is the same size and in good condition. Although nearly all mattresses are suitable for all bases, it is important to recognise that you will have a vastly different experience if you pair the wrong style of base for the feel you are trying to achieve. If your budget allows, we highly recommend you buy a new mattress at the same time to ensure you get the best possible sleep platform to suit your requirements and needs.

  • How much should I look to spend?

This is a tricky question to answer. It is probably obvious to say, but cheaper frames are not designed with longevity in mind, while higher end products can, if cared for properly, last several years. Our advice is, spend as much as you can to get what you want. On the rare occasion that a competitor is offering a like-for-like product cheaper,we will always aim to match their price.

  • Can a bed frame affect my sleep?

Yes! People typically think of mattresses being solely responsible for good or disturbed sleep. However, your bed frame can affect how your mattress feels. Your mattress needs a quality frame to support it and therefore, in turn, support you.

  • Do all frames come with a headboard?

All of our bed frames include headboards, however, with our bed bases and divan beds, headboards are sold separately. Our bed experts will be able to recommend some lovely headboards to match your new divan bed perfectly.

  • How can I dispose of my old bed frame?

We offer a removal and recycle service at Land of Beds. All we ask is that your old bed has been dismantled and is ready for removal, we will then do the rest!

  • Can I buy on finance?

Yes, you absolutely can, providing you are spending more than £250.
